I will get sacked from my job if I reveal to my boss my long term plan

When you sit down with your manager and reveal your longer term Career Objectives it is possible you will not be able to be completely open and frank because the boss is only human and when the chips are down s/he needs to know who will be with him/her over the long haul... and it is impossible for the boss to not recall your last frank open discussion around where you saw yourself and why you want to work here. It is only human. There is nothing bad or sinister in it and fortunately there is a way other than through HR who (a) just knows 'about' job in IT... not the specific struggles you face.. and (b) its scope will unlikely cover outside your company or industry nor (c) approve the right training

This is why I often heard it was difficult for an employee to fully openly explore and MARKET their POSSIBILITY documented in their 2, 3, 5 year career plan.
